I have to be honest: I always surprised that usually when I use some of the special shortcuts the Windows key offers, people will scream "hey, wow, how did you do that?", like if I was some kind of a hacker. My fellow friends, not much science behind that trick. Let´s do some magic.
So I will show you some basic things that you can do with the Windows key that might help you in your everyday use of a Windows based computer.
This is the famous "windows" key. Located at the bottom of your keyboard, at the sides of the space bar. In this walkthrough, when you see "Windows + ..." it means that you must hold this key, plus using another key.
Let´s get started:
- Windows key by itself, will open the start menu. If you press it again, the start menu will go away.
- Windows-key + L: Lock your computer or switch users.
· Windows-key + tab:Windows Flip 3D shows your open windows in a three dimensional stack on your desktop. Hold the windows-key and press the tab key to flip through the open windows until you find the open window you wish to view.
- Windows + D. Displays your desktop, hidding the rest of your open windows.
- Windows + F. Search for a file or folder.
- Windows + P. Select a presentation display mode.
- Windows + space bar.All windows become transparent so you can see through to the desktop.
- Windows + E. Opens the Computer window.
-
Windows + T: Cycle through programs on the taskbar.
- Windows + arrow. Moves open windows to the side of the screen and to other monitors. This shortcut is also useful if you're using multi-monitor and have 'stranded' a window on another monitor.
- Windows + "+":Make your computer easier to see by activating Magnifier. Hold down the Windows key while pressing the + sign to zoom in. Windows-key and - sign allow you to zoom out. Windows-key and ESC exit the magnifier feature.
I hope you can make use of this shortcuts!
